About Gerund

Gerund adalah bentuk kata kerja ing yang difungsikan sebagai kata benda.

Rumus:

Verb 1 + ing

 Contoh  :

                      He is smoking.                                             ( Smoking sebagai Verb / kata kerja )

                      Smoking is  bad habit.                              ( Smoking sebagai Gerund )

Fungsi Gerund dalam kalimat

1)      Sebagai Subyek  :  dapat berdiri sendiri / merupakan frase (phrase)

Contoh :

                  Reading is my hobby

                  Cycling is good activity

                  Writing is his job

2)      Sebagai Obyek

Contoh :

                   I love reading

                   My mother likes cooking

                   Ama wants singing

3)      Sebagai Larangan

Contoh  :

                   No chitting!

                   No overtaking

                   No parking!

4)      Sebagai Perintah / Anjuran

Contoh  :

                                   Keep smiling.. J!

                                   Keep moving forward!

5)      Setelah Preposition

Contoh  :

                   I went without saying.

                   After drinking juice, I went to school.

6)      Berbentuk Present Tense

Contoh  :

                   I going to school by bycicle

                   She likes cooking satay

7)      Bentuk Present Perfect Tense

Contoh  :

                   I don’t remember having ever dated with him.

                   He regrates not having taken my advice
